What is California Proposition 65?
California Proposition 65 (also known as the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act) requires the State of California to publish a list of chemicals that may cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. Businesses selling products in California are required to provide a warning if their products may contain trace amounts of any listed substances above the state’s strict thresholds.
These warnings are commonly seen throughout California in retail stores, restaurants, hotels, schools, and other public spaces.
Who is required to display this warning?
Companies are required to include a Proposition 65 warning if a product may expose consumers to listed chemicals above California’s defined safety thresholds. These thresholds are extremely strict and are often significantly lower than federal standards used in other states and countries.
As a result, many products sold in California display this warning even when the exposure level is considered minimal by other regulatory standards. No other U.S. state enforces Proposition 65 requirements.
Does this mean GET A GRIP product's are unsafe?
No. A Proposition 65 warning does not mean a product is unsafe or violates any safety standards.
It simply means the product may contain trace amounts of naturally occurring or environmental substances that are included on California’s list, and the warning is provided so consumers can make an informed choice.
Many minerals and compounds listed under Proposition 65 occur naturally in soil, water, and plants, which can lead to trace amounts appearing in natural ingredients used in supplements.
Quality & Testing
Every Get A Grip product is developed with a focus on quality, consistency, and transparency. Finished products are tested to help ensure they meet internal standards for identity and purity before reaching customers.
If a product contains trace amounts of a Proposition 65-listed substance above California’s threshold, the required warning is displayed in accordance with state law.
